The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has welcomed Germany and Norway into a new Naval Strike Missile (NSM) Support Partnership. This partnership agreement enhances the NSM maintenance capabilities of the two Allies, while encouraging other Nations that have acquired or plan to acquire the NSM to join.
The NSM Support Partnership is a turnkey legal framework providing life cycle management of the weapon system to Participating Nations, while enhancing cost efficiency and long-term sustainability in missile maintenance.
The services NSPA offers under this Partnership include in-service support elements such as support of depot level maintenance, initiation of surveillance program and acquisition of spare parts, as well as technical assistance to assure the operational availability of NSM inventories.
This partnership provides a cost-effective and sustainable solution for NSM maintenance while strengthening cooperation between allied nations. Through NSPA, Participating Nations obtain a predictable, long-term organisation for maintenance and support.
This includes improved access to spare parts, streamlined documentation, enhanced configuration management, and better data sharing.
In addition, the NSM SP provides economies of scale, significantly reducing costs for individual nations, ensuring efficient resource management and strengthening collective defence capabilities.
Other countries have expressed their interest in joining the Partnership in the next few months.
