{"id":2388,"date":"2026-05-01T07:37:39","date_gmt":"2026-05-01T05:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedefencenews.com\/?p=2388"},"modified":"2026-04-13T10:58:32","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T08:58:32","slug":"investment-committee-approves-first-nato-maritime-science-and-technology-project-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedefencenews.com\/?p=2388","title":{"rendered":"Investment Committee approves first NATO Maritime Science and Technology Project proposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mdl-grid\">\n<div class=\"mdl-cell mdl-cell--12-col\">\n<p><b>The first project proposal within NSPA\u2019s NATO Maritime Science and Technology capability was approved by the NATO Investment Committee (IC), representing a key milestone between the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmre.nato.int\/\">Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE)<\/a>\u00a0<\/b><span data-keep=\"\">\u2013 located in La Spezia, Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The project will cover the modernisation of the CMRE\u2019s prototyping capabilities including simulation and modelling computing, quantum lab and unmanned test benches, to ensure the experimentation of advanced technology innovation at sea and the expansion of NATO Nations\u2019 common maritime activities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mdl-grid\">\n<div class=\"mdl-cell mdl-cell--12-col\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mdl-grid\">\n<div class=\"mdl-cell mdl-cell--12-col aos-init aos-animate\" data-aos=\"fade-left\">\n<blockquote><p>This approval is an important milestone in the recognition of the collaborative work between several NATO Agencies with the Allied Command Transformation (ACT) impulse. It confirms the value of our joint effort and will enable NSPA to progressively build knowledge and expertise in supporting next-generation maritime science and technology activities<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thomas Gaborit, Principal Project Development Officer, Acquisition Planning and Development Office (APDO)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mdl-grid\">\n<div class=\"mdl-cell mdl-cell--12-col\">\n<p>The decision reinforces NATO\u2019s commitment to structured capability development, inter-agency cooperation, and sustained innovation in the maritime domain, and across other domains.<\/p>\n<p>NSPA\u2019s APDO, who worked directly CMRE act as the Agency\u2019s acquisition focal point.
