{"id":1648,"date":"2025-05-24T08:28:25","date_gmt":"2025-05-24T06:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedefencenews.com\/?p=1648"},"modified":"2025-06-08T10:43:57","modified_gmt":"2025-06-08T08:43:57","slug":"us-army-eyes-data-platform-upgrade-for-2025-2028","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedefencenews.com\/?p=1648","title":{"rendered":"US Army eyes data platform upgrade for 2025-2028"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"drop-cap\">The US Army is doubling down on its data plans with a new four-year, $619 million contract with Palantir that promises to keep current features that help commanders learn more about their troops, while expanding the AI-powered Vantage platform across the service.<\/p>\n<p>Palantir has been the prime contractor for the Army\u2019s Vantage data\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eis.army.mil\/army-vantage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">platform<\/a>, which uses AI and machine learning to support operational and tactical planning and data analysis since 2019. And starting in the New Year, the service plans to pivot to an upgraded version called the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eis.army.mil\/programs\/adp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Army Data Platform<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new contract, which was awarded on Dec. 13, \u201callows the Army to maintain the current Army Vantage system and support users while planning a follow-on capability to Army Vantage called Army Data Platform,\u201d Cassandra Reilly, Army Data Platform\u2019s product manager at the program executive office enterprise, said via email. \u201cAny work performed in Army Vantage will transition to the Army Data Platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The agreement is for $400.7 million over four years with a $618.8 million ceiling.<\/p>\n<div class=\"related-articles-placeholder\">\n<div class=\"related-articles js-content-related-stories\">\n<div class=\"related-articles-link-box\">\n<p class=\"related-article-link\">The Army plans to release a contract for the Army Data Platform in 2025 and is \u201ccurrently working on a strategy to support a migration effort,\u201d said Ellyn Kocher, a spokesperson for Army PEO Enterprise. The service will \u201cprovide additional details to users as the future capability, Army Data Platform, evolves,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>One of the contract\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sam.gov\/opp\/4c11197b52c84265af7b2841d581bdb2\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requirements<\/a>\u00a0for the new Vantage system is that all data, workflows and visualizations migrate to the Army Data Platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Vantage program ensures that every data point is not just collected but understood in the broader mission framework,\u201d Mitchell Skiles, Palantir\u2019s senior vice president for federal business said in a news release. \u201cThis level of comprehensive data integration is crucial for operational effectiveness and decision superiority across the Army, where they continue to set the standard as leaders in this space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The contract comes as Palantir expands its\u00a0work for the Defense Department from the Army\u2019s\u00a0 Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node or\u00a0TITAN, ground station\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/08\/07\/palantir-titan-army-jblm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a>\u00a0to the Pentagon\u2019s\u00a0Maven\u00a0system, an AI-powered intelligence platform for combatant commands.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, a\u00a0wave\u00a0of AI companies are teaming up to deliver tailored tech to the Pentagon.
