Indian Army officials said on Thursday that they are fully prepared to deal with Pakistan’s military-backed march by locals from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. March 4 is scheduled for October.
The march is being planned to protest India’s decision to repeal the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution to withdraw special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials also said that the Indian Army would follow standard operating procedures against any attempt to breach the Line of Control (LoC) and Indian territory. He said that Pakistan Army has already been warned against such efforts.
Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies must ensure the sanctity of the Line of Control, Indian Army officials said ahead of the march on Friday. Indian Army officials also said that Pakistan Army is using Kashmiris as Kashmiri fodder in PoK and Indian security forces are ready to deal with any incident with LoC.
Sources were told by the news agency PTI that the Indian Army is aware of the public statements of Pakistani leaders, aimed at instigating unarmed civilians.
The relationship between India and Pakistan became serious after the repeal of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution on 5 August to withdraw the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and split it into two union territories.
Pakistan reacted angrily to the move and expelled the Indian envoy. Since then, Pakistan has been trying to rally international support against India on this issue.
